Bertel Haugen is a left-field folk musician with a distinctly unconventional approach to songmaking. Born on a small farm in rural Wales to a Dutch mother and a Norwegian father, he later relocated to London, where he records his characteristically quirky folk songs. A true DIY artist, Bertel plays all the instruments himself and conjures his drum sounds from everyday household objects — everything from pencils to whisks. His music is widely described as out of the left-field. His songs have earned airplay on BBC Radio from presenters including Bethan Elfyn, Adam Walton, Cerys Matthews, and Tom Robinson.
